WORLD PRE-ECCLAMPSIA DAY CELEBRATION

A World Pre-Eclampsia Day Programme was organized by the Department of OBG on 22-05-2026 at the PKDCN Auditorium. The programme aimed to create awareness about pre-eclampsia and emphasize the importance of early identification and timely action during pregnancy.
Welcome address was delivered by Mrs. Dana Baby, Associate Professor, Department of OBG. The programme commenced with an inaugural address by Prof. Dr. A. Priya Mary Stella, Principal,to the importance of maternal health awareness and the role of nursing students in identifying and managing pre-eclampsia related complications.
The theme of the programme was “Know the Symptoms. Take Action”, which was revealed by Mrs. Vijaya Nirmala Devi, Associate Professor, Department of OBG. The programme was coordinated by Mrs. Selvi, Assistant Professor, and Mrs. Vijaya Nirmala Devi, Associate Professor, Department of OBG. The beneficiaries of the programme were the VI th Semester B.Sc Nursing students. To made the programme more interactive and informative, six groups were randomly selected to participate in a quiz competition based on the topic of pre-eclampsia. The competition encouraged active participation and improved students’ understanding of the subject.
At the end of the programme, Group B emerged as the winners of the quiz competition and received prizes for their excellent performance.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the VI th Semester students, expressing gratitude to the management, faculty members, coordinators, and participants for making the programme a grand success.
The programme was highly informative and beneficial in promoting awareness regarding pre-eclampsia and maternal health among nursing students.
