REPORT ON WORLD ALZHIEMERS DAY

World Alzheimer's Day is observed annually on September 21st to raise awareness about Alzheimer's disease and dementia, emphasizing the importance of early diagnosis, support, and research. The day aims to educate the public, healthcare professionals, and caregivers about the challenges faced by individuals affected by these conditions and to promote initiatives that improve quality of life.

In 2025, the Mental Health Nursing department of PKDCN organized an awareness program on September 22nd at PKDIMS to commemorate World Alzheimer's Day. The event commenced at 9:30 a.m. and was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Regina P F, Head of Department (HOD) of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Nursing. Her inaugural speech highlighted the significance of understanding Alzheimer's disease and the role of mental health professionals in managing and supporting affected individuals. Mr. Liju James, Associate Professor and HOD of Mental Health Nursing, delivered an informative speech emphasizing the importance of mental health awareness and early detection of cognitive decline. Students from the 6th Semester participated in health education activities, focusing on the symptoms, prevention, and management of Alzheimer's disease. The program saw active participation from students, staff nurses, and patients, by standers fostering a collaborative environment for learning and awareness.
