FIELD VISIT - PURIFICATION PLANT, MALAMPUZHA
The Community Health Nursing Department of P.K. Das College of Nursing organized an educational field visit to the Water Treatment Plant, Malampuzha on 9th and 10th December 2025 for 5th Semester B.Sc. Nursing students, under the guidance of faculty members Prof. Mrs. Zaina Elizabeth Jose and Mrs. Mercy Ruth, Associate Professor.
During the visit, the Assistant Engineer, Mr. Ajeesh, explained the structure and functioning of the plant and guided students through various treatment sections. With a capacity of 45 million litres per day, the plant is one of the largest in Kerala. Students gained practical understanding of key water purification processes such as aeration, coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, filtration, and disinfection.
The visit provided valuable insights into safe water supply systems and highlighted the importance of water treatment in promoting public health and preventing water-borne diseases.
